The FordPass app is software that you can install on your smartphone. It gives you access to information about your vehicle, in addition to giving you some extra control, such as remote starting or even extra benefits such as FordPass Rewards.
While it’s not necessary to have FordPass to operate your vehicle, it can add a lot of conveniences when you're trying to do things like recall where you parked or even start your vehicle while you're not in it.
SYNC Connect is an additional reinforcement of internet connectivity by building a modem right into your vehicle. In other words, even if you’re not at home, you have an internet-ready modem in your vehicle itself. This is in addition to allowing you to make full use of the most advanced features of the FordPass app through FordPass Connect.
FordPass Rewards are points you can earn through buying Ford vehicles or getting repair work done on your vehicle. If you have one of those listed vehicles, then you get the FordPass app with SYNC Connect as a standard part of the package. However, other trims within these models may allow you to include SYNC Connect and full FordPass app functionality as an optional upgrade if you request it and work it into your budget.
If you have a FordPass Connect vehicle linked to your FordPass app, you can access the app and remotely unlock the vehicle by accessing the app. Unlike other remote unlocking options, you don’t have to be near your vehicle for this to work.
With a SYNC Connect-enabled vehicle linked to a valid FordPass Connect account and FordPass app, your car will remember its parking location and indicate its position on the app.
The FordPass cost in Canada is free for you to install on your phone. However, some of the additional services that make full use of the app, such as FordPass Connect services using the modem, will require a subscription.
Participating cities and parking services within those cities allow you to find and reserve parking ahead of time if they are highlighted on the FordPass App.
Yes. For example, let’s say you have a regular work schedule, and it’s winter, and you’d like to warm up your car before leaving. You can program your FordPass app to start your car at an appointed time or even do so remotely whenever you like.
If you have one of the SYNC Connect-enabled vehicles that allow you to take advantage of FordPass Connect services, then your vehicle is capable of becoming a Wi-Fi hotspot. You must have an active data plan that provides coverage to your Ford vehicle.
If all of these conditions are met, then you only need to navigate your touchscreen, swiping left until you get to “Wi-Fi & Hotspot” and choose “Vehicle Hotspot,” ensuring that Wi-Fi is turned on. Input your password, and you’re on the internet.
