Ford is putting the Carhartt name on an F-150 for the first time, and it leads a long list of changes for the 2027 model year. The F-150 has been the top-selling truck in Canada for 60 years in a row, and Ford keeps that streak going by listening to the people who drive it. Those conversations also shaped a fresh face for four popular trims, a new standard engine and a hands-free towing feature.
If you’re shopping for a new pickup or just curious about what changed, this guide covers each update in plain terms. You’ll find what sets the Carhartt edition apart, the key engine numbers and how the new towing tech works.

The First-Ever F-150 Carhartt Arrives in Early 2027
Ford is bringing the Carhartt name to the F-150 for the first time. Built on the XLT SuperCrew 4x4, the F-150 Carhartt is set to arrive in early 2027.
Outside, it rides on unique 20-inch wheels and wears fender vents and badging with the Carhartt logo, plus a lower rocker and tailgate graphic. Signature headlamps, a cowl hood, a modified grille, dual exhaust and off-road running boards give it a rugged stance. The box gets a Carhartt-branded spray-in bedliner to protect your cargo.
Inside, two-tone Carhartt-themed seat covers take their cue from the brand’s brown duck canvas and signature triple stitch. The door trim panels, centre console lid and steering wheel get accent stitching, and all-weather floor mats carry the Carhartt logo. Even the floor mat texture comes from the bottom of a Carhartt tool bag.
A Fresh Look for XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum

The 2027 F-150 XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum each get a newly designed grille and new wheel designs. Ford says drivers asked for a modern take on a familiar face, and the update keeps the truck’s work-ready shape while giving these four trims a sharper front end.
The rest of the lineup keeps the tough look F-150 owners know. Buyers can still pick from Regular Cab, SuperCab and SuperCrew body styles, with 5.5-, 6.5- and 8-foot boxes. The 8-foot box holds 2,192 litres of cargo volume, the 6.5-foot box holds 1,764 litres and the 5.5-foot box holds 1,495 litres.
A New Standard 3.0 L EcoBoost V6
The biggest mechanical change sits under the hood. A new 3.0 L twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 replaces the 2.7 L EcoBoost V6 as the standard engine. It shares the same core design and makes 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque.
Drivers will feel the difference most in daily use. Ford says the 3.0 L reaches peak pulling power sooner and delivers roughly 10% to 11% more torque in the range where everyday driving happens. That means stronger response pulling away from a stop or merging with a loaded box. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 8,400 lbs (3,810 kg) and carry up to 1,755 lbs (796 kg) of payload.
Six Engines to Choose From
The 3.0 L EcoBoost leads a lineup of six engines. Each one suits a different kind of driver, from daily commuters to people who pull heavy trailers every weekend.

The top towing number belongs to the 3.5 L EcoBoost V6. On a SuperCrew 4x4 with the 6.5-foot box, the Max Tow/Haul Package and the optional Max Tow Axle, it’s rated to pull 13,500 lbs (6,123 kg). The PowerBoost hybrid brings the most torque of any V6 in the lineup at 570 lb-ft, and its available Pro Power Onboard supplies 2.4 kW or 7.2 kW of electrical power straight from the truck.
BlueCruise with Towing Brings Hands-Free Highway Trailering

The 2027 F-150 is the first Ford truck to offer BlueCruise with Towing. This driver-assist feature lets you drive hands-free, with your eyes on the road, on pre-qualified divided highways called Blue Zones while pulling a boat, camper or trailer.
Ford opened the feature to every BlueCruise-equipped 2027 F-150, from XLT and Tremor to Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum. Owners with an active BlueCruise plan pay nothing extra to use it. Here are the basics:
- Tows up to 10,000 lbs (4,536 kg) hands-free when properly configured
- Speed is capped at 120 km/h while towing
- Requires a saved trailer profile with accurate dimensions
- Watches for trailer sway and slows the truck if the sway continues
Ford tested the system over thousands of kilometres of real roads and in its driving simulator to cover as many trailer setups and conditions as possible.
